Stephanie and Alex’s wedding at the Milestone in Denton was one of the most loving, moving weddings I’ve ever had the honor of photographing. The entire day was full of a strong bond of their families, from start to finish.
Alex has been a part of Stephanie’s life since they were teens in school. He’s become one of their family, especially after the tragic loss of Stephanie’s father. Her father was honored in many ways throughout the wedding (from the badges from his uniform used on Stephanie’s garter to a photo on her bouquet to walk with her down the aisle), but one of the most touching things I’ve ever witnessed in my years as a wedding photographer happened at the beginning of the wedding ceremony.
After Stephanie’s stepfather handed her off to Alex, the two were surprised by a letter reading. Stephanie’s father wrote two letters before he passed: one to his daughter on her wedding day, and one to the man that she would marry. I can’t even put into words how moving it was to witness, to be a part of.
As I mentioned, the family bond is so strong between not only Stephanie and her family and Alex and his family, but also among both families. They truly are one big family now, which was amazing to see play out even as both families looked on during the couple’s (semi-)private last dance.
Thanks again, Stephanie and Alex, for inviting me to be a part of your day! I’m so honored to have been a part.
