Chery and Matt are in love. They didn’t tell me they are in love (most people don’t actually say it outloud, of course), but there’s this look that they give each other where it seems like they’ve forgotten anyone else is in the room. Specifically, there’s this thing that Matt does with Cheryl while we are shooting. They think that I’m not looking, that I’m not paying attention as I’m changing lenses or moving around… but I see this little way that Matt gently touches Cheryl’s arm with his hands, just lovingly touching him with the tips of his fingers… it’s so small, but it’s just a huge example of the way they show that they are in love.
At one point, after the toasts, my assistant Kristina and I looked at each other and we just said, “WOULD YA JUST LOOK AT THEM?!” almost at the same time. Even though the toasts had finished, the music was back on, and the crowd had directed their attention elsewhere, they were both just looking at each other with googly eyes, smiling and holding hands. It really just created such a fantastic atmosphere and became contagious with everyone else throughout the night.
I’m so, so lucky to have so many great couples like these two. It truly makes me so grateful for the opportunity to just bask in that love and soak it all in.
Thank you, Cheryl and Matt, for inviting me to capture such an amazing day for you and your families!
