Guys. I don’t mean to come across as dramatic (I don’t mean to, it just comes naturally), but there was a literal monsoon the day of Ashley and Ian’s wedding! I’m talking flash flood type of rain, flooding the streets and causing waterfalls from the sides of awnings and gutters. It was the type of rain that makes being outside, even under a cover/umbrella/awning/ANY type of protection… you’re still going to get soaked!

I work with Andrea a lot at the McKinney Flour Mill (she’s just the bestest coordinator around!) and she and I were both looking at each other like, “Oh god no… not a wedding day MONSOON!” and yet, all the while, you know how Ashley and Ian were reacting? “Meh, it’ll be okay.” WHAT?! That’s amazing!! I mean, I think *I* might have been more stressed out about the rain than either of them! THAT right there is a quality I would like to possess: calm, cool, and collected… while being rained on. Haha!

And that patience and unshakable composure totally paid off for them: Near the middle of the reception, the clouds gave way for just enough of that golden sunset light to come through, and with the wet concrete (and Ian’s bad a** car), it made for some serious magic portraits! I found the best spot to use that would take advantage of our skies, but was so forlorn that the entire parking lot was basically a small pond. Did that stop Ashley from getting out there? No! THIS GIRL IS MY DREAM. I even included a behind-the-scenes shot below of Ian wringing out her dress, haha!

Thank you, Ian and Ashley, for choosing me to be a part of your big day! I’m so, so honored that you trusted me and my ideas and were totally on board the whole time! I wish the best for you guys for years to come!
