Amanda and I bonded right away during our initial consultation over coffee as if we were old friends getting back together. It wasn’t an hour or so after we parted ways that I received an email from her along the lines of “We’d love for you to be our photographer!” and then not very long after that, “BIG change of plans. Please tell me you travel?!?” To which that answer is always “UH. SHYEAH I DO.” Amanda is from Texas, but Kevin? He’s a “yankee” as we like to say it, originally from Pennsylvania. They both live here in North Texas, but they really wanted to have their wedding up north to share with his family.

Let me just tell you this: You haven’t really experienced anything like fall until you’ve gone up north. Pennsylvania made me oddly “homesick” for North Carolina (my second home) and my husband’s home state of Virginia. IT’S GORGEOUS. THE COLORS OMG THE COLORS. Yes, I know that Kevin and Amanda took their wedding to PA for family, but man… I would take my wedding up to PA for those fall colors alone!! What perfect timing for a wedding! And Amanda had so many lavender and rustic details throughout, with hints of our southern Texas pride here and there (cowboy boots abound and chicken fried steak for dinner), mixed with awesome Pennsylvania details like the cocktail hour featuring perogies and philly cheesesteak appetizers.

And lastly, to get a little personal (and mushy, because that’s how I roll), I really do feel so overwhelmingly grateful for the bond I’ve made with Amanda and Kevin and their whole family and friends. Kristina and I spent the night before the wedding with all of the fine ladies who came up from Texas to participate and it was just such a great experience! I feel like part of Amanda and Kevin’s family now and just can’t believe my luck in life in being able to have experience of traveling to be part of such an amazing day (week!) for a group of people.
