Okay, I know I shouldn’t jump straight to the reception when talking about weddings, but guys: Aaricka and Kyle’s was ONE. EPIC. PARTY. And yes, I know I probably shouldn’t refer to a reception as a “party,” but if you were there… if only you were there!! I can’t image a better mix of a group. Everyone was on the dance floor. EVERYONE. It doesn’t hurt that they had a jammin’ live band.
At one point, there was a double dutch competition. Except without the ropes. Okay, maybe it doesn’t make sense now that I actually write that out, but I laughed so hard I cried. What an amazing outgoing group of people! And when the band decided to take a break, one of the groomsmen (who actually can sing), talked the lead singer into handing over the mic and letting him lead a kareoke. OH! And when the cake cutting came around, instead of the usual “feed each other cake” tradition, Aaricka and Kyle did an impromptu “tossing of the cake pieces” (official name from now on) into each other mouths. AND SUCCEEDED. Everyone went wild.
Just so, so, so much fun all around. I literally turned to my assistant shooter Kristina halfway through the reception and said, “I don’t think I’m cool enough to be here right now.” Haha!
And can I just talk about the Katy Depot in Denison for a second? HOLY MOLY I love historic buildings, but the white walls and wonderful details throughout were just so scrumptious. Add in all the golden glitter and gold sequin details throughout, the chandeliers and amazing draping, and I was just wishing I could live there. LOVED IT.
Congratulations again, Aaricka and Kyle! Anytime you want to have another reception, please invite me. Haha!
